I make frequent appearances at schools and libraries. My usual school day includes four presentations with groups of up to about sixty students each. I discuss the writing life and explain how and why I began writing for young people. My research is also discussed. Slides are used to present my picture books. Sessions may be held in the Media Center or other place comfortable for students. I sign all books. Lesson plans for some of my books are available on this site. Here I am with Media Specialist, Kathy Graham whose quilting club made the quilt we're holding to complement my latest book, The Patchwork Path, A Quilt Map To Freedom.
